WTA Remain Concerned About Chinese Player Peng Shuai

The WTA has expressed concern for Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai, who has been subject to considerable speculation recently as to her whereabouts.

Peng came into the public spotlight after she accused one minister of sexual abuse. For almost three weeks after that, no one knew what was happening to her.

The entire public was worried that something had not happened to the thirty-five-year-old tennis player.

Many of her colleagues, as well as other athletes and people around the world, supported her, demanding that the Chinese government provide evidence that everything was fine with her, which was eventually done.

One of the sports organizations that showed concern for the Chinese tennis player is the International Olympic Committee, whose IOC President Thomas Bach made a recent video call with her.

Peng thanked Bach for her care and pointed out that everything was fine with her. A video of that call could be seen showing Peng smiling.

“She explained that she is safe and well, living at her home in Beijing, but would like to have her privacy respected at this time,” it added.

“She prefers to spend her time with friends and family right now,” it said. “Nevertheless, she will continue to be involved in tennis.”

Despite the mentioned recording and the call made, the WTA still worries about Peng and is afraid that for certain reasons she must not say what things she has faced in the past few weeks. WTA wants this case to be fully clarified.
