Cigarettes After Sex, the American ambient/dream pop band, will perform in Bangkok this coming January with its lively show set to take place at IMPACT Exhibition Center’s Hall 5.
Greg Gonzalez is the founder, lead vocalist and guitarist of Cigarettes After Sex, joined by bassist Randall Miller and drummer Jacob Tomsky. The lads’ gigantic global fanbase went into a frenzy last month, when they announced that they would embark on a world tour in support of the latest studio album, “X’s”, which was released on July 12 to critical acclaim.
Tuesday, January 21, 2025 is the date to mark in your diaries as the trio is set to return for the fourth time in the kingdom, following an electrifying gig earlier this year. They will also have other Asian tour dates in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Jakarta, and Singapore.
“Apocalypse” is the band’s biggest hit to date, chalking up over 1.4 billion Spotify streams. The song, melding Greg’s hauntingly ethereal and dreamy vocals with introspective lyrics about lost love has captured many listeners, propelling them into the global music scene.
Formed in 2008, the Texas natives catapulted to fame with the viral success of “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby”, a song from the 2012 EP “I.”. The track became a sleeper hit three years after its release, achieving significant attention from its use in various commercials.
2017 saw the release of the group’s eponymous debut studio album “Cigarettes After Sex (Romans 13:9)”, featuring the mega hit “Apocalypse”, as well as other standout tracks such as “K.”, “Sunsetz”, and “Flash”, earning Greg and his bandmates millions of new followers.
The collective’s second album, “Cry”, came out two years later, and received rave reviews from both critics and fans.
