Renowned Irish rock band The Script has announced its return to Bangkok for early 2025, news which generated vast excitement with the lads’ legion of fans based in the kingdom.
Lead vocalist Danny O’Donoghue, drummer Glen Power, bassist Ben Sargeant, along with guitarist Ben Weaver, form the group’s current line-up. The quartet released “Satellites” in August, its seventh studio album and the first since Mark Sheehan, a co-founder and lead guitarist for The Script, tragically passed away at just 46 years of age on April 14th, 2023.
In support of “Satellites”, the lads will embark on a world tour later this year, with Bangkok confirmed as one of the Asian stops. The show will be on Thursday, February 20th, 2025, and the venue to catch the boys hitting the stage is Thunder Dome, Muang Thong Thani.
Just a year after forming in 2007, the natives of Dublin, Ireland catapulted to stardom with the release of their eponymous debut album, “The Script”, which contained some of their most iconic tracks, such as “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved”, “Breakeven”, and “We Cry”.
Smash single “Hall of Fame” from the group’s third album, “#3”, featuring rap star will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, stands as its biggest song to date, racking up a phenomenal 1.78 million chart sales globally, and collecting more than 1.5 billion streams on Spotify alone.
Danny O’Donoghue and Mark Sheehan together formed the group after the disbandment of their previous Irish boyband Mytown, which failed to receive international success. The duo spent many years in LA, working with eminent producers, before returning to Dublin.
They recruited drummer Glen Power before dropping their debut single “We Cry” in 2008 to huge acclaim, receiving extensive airplay in both Ireland and Britain and earning praise from BBC Radio 1 Dj Jo Whiley. This paved the way for their first self-titled studio album, a significant milestone for the lads, and one that put them firmly on the music scene’s map.
Since that initial breakthrough, the self-described ‘celtic soul’ outfit has enjoyed relentless success, garnering millions of followers worldwide with its distinct blend of contemporary R&B and anthemic pop-rock, that has resonated strongly with a diverse array of listeners.
The Script has been touring with American singer Pink on her Summer Carnival tour since 2023, performing as the opening act. Danny and his band will kick-off their tour in the UK in November, before it moves on to other European cities prior to departing for Bangkok.
