Russell Peters, the globally successful stand-up comedy veteran, will make a long-awaited return to the Thai capital on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at K-Bank Siam Pic-Ganesha Theatre.
The 54-year-old Indo-Canadian, recently named as one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Comics of All Time, last toured in Asia in February 2023, earning the admiration of fans across the region. In April, Peters is set to perform in Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore, as well as Bangkok, promising audiences memorable nights full of laughs.
Comedian, actor, and producer Peters was the first performer to secure a Netflix stand-up special when “Notorious” came out in 2013, and his most recent tour, “Act Your Age”, was seen by over 300,000 people in 23 countries across the world over two-and-a-half years.
He has also received some significant accolades, including a prestigious Gemini Award, a Peabody Award, an International Emmy, and Canadian Screen Awards. His popular series “The Indian Detective” premiered in 2017, and broke many Canadian viewership records.
One of Russell Peters’ greatest achievements was when he became the first comedian to sell out Toronto’s Air Canada Centre in 2007 before he later broke attendance records at New York’s Madison Square Garden, the Sydney Opera House, and London’s O2 Arena.
His career began at the age of nineteen when he started to perform at open mic nights in his native Toronto before he spent the next fifteen years honing his craft at comedy clubs across Canada and the UK, focusing on cultural diversity, satire and honest observations.
Russell Peters’ “RELAX World Tour”, subtitled “It’s Not That Serious”, exhibits his signature perceptive humour, highlighting cultural and ethnic stereotypes, personal anecdotes, and social commentary. Well-known for his quick-witted crowd interactions, his ability to keep the material fresh with improvisation, sharp insights, and engaging jokes is extraordinary.
Soon after starting out, Peters met well-known funnyman George Carlin, who advised him to be more confident on stage – guidance that shaped his career, and helped to create a unique style inspired by the spirited humour of his idols, Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy.
Outside of comedy, Peters has a blue belt with four stripes in Jiu Jitsu and is a passionate DJ and hip-hop junkie who tries to get on the turntables every day, with his love of music leading him to produce the critically acclaimed documentary series, “Hip Hop Evolution”.
