After opening its doors at the end of last year, Kokugura quickly became a hotspot for ramen lovers, specializing in serving authentic ramen crafted from premium ingredients. By evening, the establishment transforms into a refined and cozy bar.
Chef Kulapol “Air” Samsen, who honed his skills at the Michelin-starred Gaa, is the founder and leader of the restaurant and bar.
He found notable success at Yoong Chang, an Ari favourite known for its neo-Chinese cuisine that blends various cooking techniques into a single dish.
Chef Air spent seven days visiting 23 world-famous Japanese ramen shops and dedicated over six months to research, ultimately achieving the restaurant’s signature combination of rich pork and seafood broth.
Upon entering, guests are welcomed by a blend of jazz and classical music, set within an interior that combines Scandinavian and slightly medieval elements, offering a warm, sophisticated atmosphere reminiscent of a cabin in the snow.
A standout dish that has garnered attention for Kokugura is the Ika-Sumi Tsukemen, featuring thick, springy noodles from Japan, served with a unique black pork marrow and seafood broth, enriched with squid ink, for an unparalleled umami experience.
Diners have the option to order the regular for THB299, add toppings for THB429, or go premium with aromatic grilled lobster, salmon roe in truffles, and grilled kanimiso (crab fat) for THB1,339.
Other highlights include the 48-hour grilled Wagyu beef tongue, priced at THB690, and the Japanese pomfret carpaccio for THB420.
Starting from 5pm, the ramen shop transforms into a sake bar, providing an intimate atmosphere ideal for individuals, couples, or small groups seeking a quiet gathering spot.
The nighttime ramen menu focuses on high-end ingredients such as lobster, Hokkaido beef, and Iberico ham. The selection is complemented by Japanese snacks suitable for pairing with their curated sake and gin collections.
Kokugura is located on the 7th floor of the White Cloud Building in Ari and welcomes guests from Tuesday to Sunday, between 11am to 3pm and 5pm to midnight. For further information, call 094-698-7171.
