Michelin Guide Thailand Set To Expand Its Reach to Chon Buri

Travel enthusiasts can explore new dining opportunities as the Michelin Guide Thailand 2025 is set to include Chon Buri, a coastal province renowned for its diverse culinary offerings.

This initiative underscores Thailand’s commitment to showcasing its varied gastronomic landscape, aiming to enhance its reputation as a top global food tourism destination.

In recent years, the Michelin Guide has broadened its scope in Thailand, adding several provinces to its prestigious list.

Last year, locations such as Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, and Udon Thani were featured. This expansion continued with the inclusion of Koh Samui and Surat Thani in the current year.

The addition of Chon Buri marks a continued effort to promote the rich culinary scenes across various Thai provinces and territories, inviting both food lovers and tourists to explore and enjoy.

This expansion aligns with Thailand’s national strategy to utilize its cultural soft power across multiple sectors, such as food, fashion, film, fight (martial arts), and festivals, to strengthen its competitive edge in the global tourism market.

Situated just 80 kilometers from Bangkok, Chon Buri is easily accessible for both locals and international visitors looking for a getaway. The region is popular for its vibrant local culture, serene temples, and dynamic festivals, not to mention its bustling nightlife.

Beach lovers and foodies alike find Chon Buri particularly appealing. Places like Bang Saen, Pattaya, and Koh Lan offer stunning seaside landscapes coupled with unique dining experiences that include fresh seafood and local delicacies served right by the ocean.

Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of the Michelin Guides, praised Chon Buri’s comprehensive offerings.

“Chon Buri has enough to keep travelers occupied during their stay—beautiful beaches, peaceful temples, local cultural performances, varied festival activities, diverse eateries, stalls, and nightlife.”

“The fresh seafood, unique local delicacies, and beachfront dining experiences are also among other features. All these make Chon Buri a lively tourist destination,” he remarked.
