IKEA Sukhumvit Set To Open at Emsphere Mall This December

The renowned Swedish furniture retailer, IKEA, is set to unveil its fourth location in Thailand on December 1. This upcoming store will be located in the soon-to-be-launched The Emsphere mall.

After a two-year delay due to the Covid-19 crisis, The Emsphere shopping center, a colossal US$403 million project by The Mall Group, is finally gearing up for its year-end opening.

Interestingly, this new IKEA outlet will pioneer the City Center Store design in Southeast Asia. This implies a more convenient location and an emphasis on contemporary urban lifestyles.

The latest showroom is strategically located in Sukhumvit, ensuring easy access via public transportation. This is a boon for customers reluctant to travel to distant places like Mega Bangna or Bangyai for IKEA’s flatback furniture.

Moreover, enthusiasts of IKEA Restaurant’s offerings, from meatballs to pasta bolognese, will be delighted at this location, which boasts a view of Benjasiri park. For added convenience, IKEA provides a Market Hall Self Service for those looking for a quick bite.

Covering a vast 15,000 square meters, Ikea Sukhumvit will occupy the entire third level of The Emsphere. This mall is a part of the ambitious Em District initiative, which is co-founded by the brains behind Emporium and Emquartier.

The Emsphere has acquired a 200,000sqm plot near Sukhumvit Road, destined for retail, entertainment, and a hotel. On its architectural design alone, the company invested over $13.3 million.

The mall will feature an array of prestigious brands. Notably, it will host Thailand’s third Apple store, Tesla, and the inaugural city-centre concept store of IKEA in Thailand, complemented by over 100 dining establishments.

Renowned brands such as Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Celine, and Dior will also establish their presence.

Furthermore, the complex will debut a 20,000sqm arena, designed to accommodate over 6,000 spectators. The Mall Group anticipates a daily footfall of between 80,000 and 100,000 visitors.

The announcement of the upcoming IKEA store in Phrom Phong within the eagerly anticipated Emsphere was first made last May. Additionally, earlier this year, IKEA garnered attention by introducing pet-friendly policies in their Thailand outlets.
