ICONSIAM, the distinguished landmark located along the majestic Chao Phraya River, has unveiled “The Magic Dragon 2024″, a remarkable digital art showcase by the well-known French artist Miguel Chevalier. The awe-inspiring display can be experienced from Friday, January 12th to Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 at River Park on the G floor of ICONSIAM.

The captivating event celebrates ICONSIAM’s 5th anniversary and welcomes the Chinese New Year, with 2024 being the Year of the Wood Dragon. The dragon is thought of as the most auspicious sign in the Chinese zodiac, signifying wealth, wisdom, and good fortune.

Guests are sure to have a great time as they immerse themselves in the anticipatory spirit of the forthcoming Lunar New Year, and be amazed by the 55-meter-long “Magic Dragon 2024” light sculpture, a masterpiece that combines aesthetics, tradition, and technology.

Join In With This Exhilarating Interactive Digital Art Experience

Widely-recognized as one of Thailand’s premier tourist destinations, ICONSIAM boasts an unparalleled mix of luxury brands, stunning architecture and a rich cultural experience set against the backdrop of the picturesque Chao Phraya River. Since opening its door in late 2018, it has quickly become a bustling hotspot, attracting thousands of visitors every day.

Commemorating the milestone of its five year anniversary alongside the Chinese-inspired festivities, ICONSIAM’s epic installation is the world’s first interactive digital art display. It’s not just an incredible sight to behold, but also a fantastic spot to take memorable photos.

Stretching an impressive 55 meters, “The Magic of Dragon 2024” sculpture is definitely a striking piece that features a perfect merging of eastern and western influences, drawing inspiration from the classical Baroque style and the extraordinary Chinese dragon dance.

The outstanding structure of the dragon consists of a head, tail, and a body composed of 38 rotating geometric vertebrae, which produce a spiraling, wave-like effect. This creates the illusion of infinite extension, a detail that is vividly captured in the two pictures above.

However, the most compelling part of this ornament is its body of light, where the interior of the dragon is beautifully adorned with LED lights that dramatically respond to people’s movements via sensors: this interactive element results in an enchanting vision as varied and unique as the people engaging with it, there to discover the unusual metallic exhibit.

With its dramatic, distorted patterns which move and change, reflecting the symbolism of the Lunar New Year and the dragon itself, the sculpture is similar to a huge kaleidoscope, transporting visitors on a magical journey to a realm filled with imagination and creativity.
