Charge+ Expands Thai EV Charging Network To Support HAUP

Charge+ has acquired HAUP’s existing 50 electric vehicle (EV) chargers network in Bangkok and Pattaya through a new strategic partnership.

Strategically located in shopping malls, hotels, and commercial buildings, Charge+ hopes to further expand the EV charging network and support HAUP’s rapidly growing electric vehicle fleet.

With the new partnership, Charge+ leverages its strong track record as the region’s leading EV charging provider to support leading top shared mobility operator HAUP.

The brand has committed to keeping a significant fraction of its car-sharing fleet electric, offering a wide range of vehicles, such as the MG 4 EV, Nissan Leaf, BMW X3e, Toyota C-pod, and Lexus UX 300e, among others.

HAUP currently operates over 300 EVs and expects to increase the electric fleet to 600 vehicles by 2025.

Charger+ and HAUP hope the new partnership will allow them to encourage more EV use in the kingdom as the Thai government passes EV policies.

Recently, hoping to make electric vehicles at least 30% of total domestic auto production by 2030 and sell only zero-emission cars by 2035, Thailand announced subsidies for electric passenger cars this year.

As it undergoes rapid expansion in Southeast Asia, Charge+ sees Thailand as a growth market with great potential.

By partnering with the country’s main EV operator, the company hopes to build an EV charging backbone from Singapore to Bangkok via Malaysia.

Such an electric vehicle charging backbone represents the vital northern endpoint for a long-term project that will greatly benefit the automotive industry.

HAUP’s CEO, Krit Vichaiwatanapanich, said the company had seen increasing demand for electric vehicles from various business, local, and tourist market segments in the past two years.

Therefore, HAUP is expected to see explosive growth in demand for both EVs and EV charging stations in the near future.

In addition, the company expects that partnering with the leading EV charging operator from Singapore will help it provide solutions to EV infrastructure needs.

“This partnership will allow Charge+ to leverage our existing shared mobility locations to accelerate the EV charging infrastructure. Concurrently, HAUP will be able to continuously increase our EV fleet on the platform,” he stated.

“Together we will be able to share and leverage our areas of expertise to achieve the transition towards zero carbon mobility,” Mr. Krit added.
