Central Phuket Teams Up With Monopoly for Local Edition

The luxury shopping destination in tourist paradise, Central Phuket, has teamed up with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and MONOPOLY maker Winning Move to develop an innovative strategy to boost local tourism: MONOPOLY: Phuket Edition.

This MONOPOLY version, created to promote Phuket’s tourist spots, includes 22 highlights in the famous island, such as Kata Beach, Sarasin Bridge, Promthep Cape, and Central Phuket Floresta. The latter became Asia’s first and only shopping center chosen as a tourist destination in a province.

Jennifer Lau of Winning Moves, the board game maker with an official license from MONOPOLY creators Hasbro, announced that its launch would be on Saturday 19 March 2022 during an event held at The Atrium, 1st floor Central Phuket Floresta. The game will also be available through Amazon.

Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Executive Vice President of Marketing for Central Pattana plc, said that Central’s team was honored and delighted by the news and appreciated the efforts to promote local tourism.

“The launch of the board game, which will be held at Central Phuket on 19 March, will underline Central Phuket’s status as a must-visit destination and world-class shopping paradise that responds to all needs, including luxury lifestyles, Thai culture and being a family destination,” Dr. Nattakit said.

“In addition, Central Phuket also offers world-class experiences and services all in one place, responding to all lifestyle needs and being a place where you can enjoy spending your whole day.”

Chiravadee Khunsub, UK Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), said that Monopoly: Phuket’s Edition allows the country to showcase what Phuket Island, the “Pearl of Andaman,” has to offer to the rest of the world, including elements that everyone can enjoy, from iconic locations to hidden gems.

The Phuket-inspired board game’s launch comes at an opportune time, as the country has reopened its borders to international visitors through the Test & Go quarantine-free program.

Therefore, international visitors can enjoy all Thai attractions, including Phuket’s beautiful beaches, markets, temples, wildlife, sunsets, waterparks, seafood, museums and more, Chiravadee added.

Central shopping centers have become Centers of Life and are close to their local communities, being part of attractions and stories in every province they are located. “We must make those provinces’ local attractions and stories known to as many people as possible,” Dr. Nattakit stated.
