THAI Unveils New Cabin Crew Uniform, Starting January 2024

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) organized the “From Purple to Purpose” media event on October 25 to unveil new uniforms for its female cabin crew.

These uniforms, which blend national pride with sustainability, will be rolled out on January 1, 2024.

In attendance at this Wednesday event were Piyasvasti Amranand, Chairperson of THAI Plan Administrators; Chansin Treenuchagron, Plan Administrator for THAI; Chai Eamsiri, CEO of THAI, and other high-ranking officials from the company.

For over 20 years, THAI has prioritized eco-conscious initiatives, with a particular emphasis on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Key projects include reducing resource usage in their offices and promoting an upcycling initiative that supports a circular economy and a broader vision for sustainable growth.

These projects are geared towards achieving zero emissions by 2050, inspired by the Zero Waste Living principle. This principle encompasses three core areas: “From Planes to Planet”, “From Waste to Wealth”, and “From Purple to Purpose.”

The Thai Ruean Ton, renowned worldwide for its elegance and worn by THAI flight attendants for over 60 years, has been updated. It now combines recycled synthetic threads with traditional Thai silk.

This revamped uniform is not just visually appealing, but it’s also practical, easy to maintain, comfortable to wear, and meets safety standards.

From January 1, 2024, this eco-conscious Thai Ruean Ton uniform will be worn by female cabin staff, both in-flight and on the ground.

In addition to their current eco-friendly measures such as enhancing fuel efficiency, introducing next-generation aircraft and engines that consume less fuel and emit fewer pollutants, THAI continues to deepen its commitment to sustainability.

Their progressive strategy involves using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and launching green initiatives in areas like catering, technical operations, and ground services.

They also emphasize support for the Thai agricultural sector, especially SMEs, in line with their overarching sustainability goals.
