On July 12, Mr. Alan Wilkinson was appointed as Head of BASIS International School Bangkok (BISB) effective July 16, 2021.

Mr. Alan, born in Shrewsbury, England, has more than two decades of leadership experience in international schools in the Middle East, China, Europe, and the United States.

Besides, Mr. Alan has successfully served as an international school inspector for the Council of International Schools (CIS).

He will come to Bangkok from Hangzhou, China, after working for three years as Founding Head of School at BASIS International School Hangzhou.

In his new role, he will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the acclaimed BASIS curriculum’s mission and vision at BASIS International School Bangkok.

Mr. Alan succeeds Ms. Elizabeth Thies, who will become the Head of School at a new BASIS Independent School in the United States.

Mr. Jonathan B. Schwimmer, Managing Director of BASIS International School Bangkok, described Mr. Alan as “the kind of leader who engages within the school and community in pursuit of educational excellence in a familial atmosphere.”

He added that they were excited to welcome Mr. Alan to the BASIS International School Bangkok community.

In response, Mr. Alan said that it would be a privilege to serve the school community, adding that he looked forward to “building on the successful foundations Ms. Thies and the team have set, ensuring BASIS International School Bangkok continues to be recognized as one of the top schools in both Bangkok and the region.”
