Chuvit Accuses Srettha of Using Nominees To Purchase Land

Whistle-blower and political advocate Chuvit Kamolvisit announced on Tuesday that the real estate company Sansiri Plc used a housekeeper and security personnel to secure a 1-billion-baht loan from an affiliate for acquiring land in Bangkok’s Thonglor district.

Mr. Chuvit conducted a media briefing to expose the purported share ownership scam by Sansiri, led at the time by its ex-CEO, Srettha Thavisin, presently the PM nominee for the Pheu Thai Party.

Mr. Chuvit asserted that Sansiri employed these two representatives, a housekeeper and a security staff member, to get a 1-billion-baht loan from their affiliate to settle a payment of 565 million baht to a land seller.

He stated that the utilization of the remaining funds remains unknown. The housekeeper was later named as Ms. Pinit (last name kept confidential), a resident of Maha Sarakham region.

She was discovered to possess 99% of the subsidiary’s shares, yet there was no documentation indicating she made any corporate tax contributions.

Another representative, a security personnel identified as Mr. Somsak (last name not disclosed), was noted to hold 1% stake in the enterprise.

Additionally, he was registered as a board director in five corporations, one of which is a transportation company linked to a different Sansiri venture.

After the land’s sale by the subsidiary to Sansiri, Mr. Chuvit pointed out that the firm was left inactive.

Given these circumstances, Mr. Chuvit questioned if Mr. Srettha was fit to assume the role of the next prime minister, especially if his administration would be influenced by nominees.

“I will ask the Stock Exchange of Thailand to check on the governance of Sansiri and ask the Senate for a review of Mr Srettha’s qualifications [to become PM],” he declared.

Pheu Thai’s vice leader, Phumtham Wechayachai, conveyed that Mr. Srettha’s eligibility would be evaluated as per the established norms.

He also displayed optimism that Pheu Thai would garner over 375 votes for Mr. Srettha’s PM bid and to inaugurate a new government, mentioning ongoing dialogues with the Palang Pracharath Party and United Thai Nation Party to potentially become coalition partners.

In the previous week, Mr. Srettha initiated a 500 million baht lawsuit against Mr. Chuvit, citing slanderous remarks concerning another land acquisition by Sansiri.

Mr. Chuvit implied that Sansiri might have sought to evade tax obligations.
