Expressway Toll Fee is Likely to Rise by Five Baht Amid Inflation

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (Exat) plans to discuss raising the toll prices on three expressways by 5 baht, due to increasing inflation, at their board meeting the following Tuesday (July 25), as stated by a knowledgeable source on Thursday.

The Burapha Withi and Chalong Rat expressways are part of the infrastructure investment contract of Thailand Future Fund (TFFIF), which permits a toll adjustment every 5 years in accordance with inflation and the consumer price index.

Amid the pandemic, Exat requested the TFFIF managers, specifically Krungthai Asset Management and MFC Asset Management, to defer the fee increase to avoid adding to the financial stress of the public.

The upcoming adjustment is scheduled to take effect on the first of September this year.

At the same time, the Kanchanapisek Expressway, managed by Exat, will also see a fee revision, given that the authority has kept the price steady for over a decade.

The increase will be tied to the consumer price index and will thus be in line with the rates of the other two expressways.

With the increase of 5 baht, the new toll fees for these three expressways will be:

1. Burapha Withi Expressway (Bang Na – Chonburi)

-4-wheel vehicles: Prices start at 25 baht and are limited to 60 baht

-6 to 10-wheel vehicles: Prices start at 55 baht and are limited to 150 baht

-Vehicles with more than 10 wheels: Prices start at 80 baht and are limited to 225 baht

2. Chalong Rat Expressway (Ramindra – Artnarong)

-4-wheel vehicles: 45 baht

-6 to 10-wheel vehicles: 65 baht

-Vehicles with more than 10 wheels: 85 baht

3. Kanchanapisek Expressway (Bang Phli – Suksawat)

-4-wheel vehicles: Prices start at 20 baht and are limited to 60 baht

-6-wheel vehicles: Prices start at 30 baht and are limited to 110 baht

-8 to 10-wheel vehicles: Prices start at 40 baht and are limited to 120 baht

-Vehicles with more than 10 wheels: Prices start at 40 baht and are limited to 165 baht

In 2022, the daily average traffic on these three expressways was 128,219, 193,150 and 218,082 vehicles, respectively.
