Man Stabs Ex-Wife to Death in Surin School Classroom

On Thursday, a man killed his ex-wife at a school in Prasat district and then broke his legs while trying to flee by jumping off the building, local police said.

According to official reports, a 26-year-old man stabbed his ex-partner Angkhana Judabud to death in a classroom during lunch. The murder occurred at Suwanvijitwitthaya School in Tambon Kang-an, where the victim worked as a teacher, shortly before 1:00 p.m.

A security guard at the school said the suspect had arrived around noon, asking if Ms. Angkhana was there that day. The worker took the man, identified as Voraphong Chankhana and known as “Bo”, to her room on the school’s second floor.

Mrs. Angkhana was reportedly having lunch when her ex-husband arrived. Two other teachers were eating outside, said the witness, who left the room shortly after.

The 29-year-old woman was found dead around a few minutes later. The guard said that someone had called him, asking him to see what had happened inside the room.

As the staff member was about to enter, Mr. Voraphong jumped from the second-floor balcony to the ground below.

However, instead of escaping, the suspect broke both his legs. Mr. Voraphong was rushed to Barsat Hospital.

The security guard, whose identity was not released, said he found the teacher lying dead on the classroom floor. She was reportedly bleeding from a stab wound near her left ear.

Police were immediately called to the scene. The school principal also suspended classes and called a staff meeting that same day.

According to the officers who arrived at the scene, Mr. Voraphong had killed his ex-wife by sticking a knife 10 centimeters deep into her head. Preliminary investigations showed that the man had killed Ms. Angkhana in what appeared to be a fit of rage after she had refused to reconcile with him.

Sources close to the victim said the suspect had tried to win her back but she had refused. They broke up after the teacher found out her husband was having an affair with another woman, witnesses added.

Mr. Voraphong allegedly threatened to kill Ms. Angkhana three days after the fatal stabbing. The couple shared two children.
