MFP Leader Pita Limjaroenrat Invites Taylor Swift to Thailand

Taylor Swift is preparing to ignite the stage in Southeast Asia next year as part of her ‘Era’ tour. However, her fans will have to make their way to Singapore to join the live extravaganza.

Nonetheless, if Pita Limjaroenrat gets his wish, the American pop sensation might include Thailand in her tour schedule.

According to him, a performance by her in Thailand is long overdue, given that she had to cancel a planned concert in 2014 following the military coup.

The leader of the Move Forward Party and a candidate for Prime Minister, Limjaroenrat proposed this idea on Thursday via Twitter.

This was in response to a tweet by Swift, where she announced the addition of new dates to the European leg of her Eras Tour in 2024.

Pita tweet read: “Hey Taylor! Big fan of yours. Btw, Thailand is back on track to be fully democratic after you had to cancel last time due to the coup.”

“The Thai people have spoken via the election and we all look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful nation of ours! Do come and I’ll be singing Lavender Haze with you! -Tim”

In 2014, Swift had planned to perform a sold-out show in Bangkok on June 9. However, a curfew imposed following the military coup led by Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha on May 22 of that year interfered with her plans.

The concert’s organisers, BEC-Tero, declared on May 27 that the show was being cancelled “due to recent events”. They didn’t provide further details.

Though Swift did perform at several other Asian locations in June of that year, the Bangkok concert was never rescheduled.

Swift is slated to perform six concerts in Singapore beginning on March 2 of 2024. Online ticket presales began on Wednesday, with over a million people reportedly in queue.
