Wedding Joy Turns Fatal: Five Dead in Groom’s Shooting Spree

At a wedding party on Saturday night, a tragic incident occurred where a groom fatally shot four individuals, including the bride, and seriously injured another person before ending his own life.

The shooter was identified as a former ranger with a leg disability who competed for Thailand in swimming and shooting at the Paralympic Games.

The tragic event unfolded around 11:25 pm at a residence in Moo 1 village, tambon Wang Nam Khieo, Wang Nam Khia district, Nakhon Ratchasima province.

It was during the wedding celebration of 29-year-old groom Chaturong Suksuk and his 44-year-old bride Kanchana Pachunthuek.

Authorities from the Wang Nam Khieo police department were summoned to investigate the incident.

That morning, Chaturong and Kanchana had held their traditional wedding ceremony at the same house, followed by a celebratory meal. Chaturong, formerly a ranger in the paramilitary, had an injured leg from his service.

The couple had lived together for three years before deciding to marry. Chaturong was fifteen years younger than Kanchana.

The evening’s wedding celebration, attended by friends and family from both sides, saw Chaturong appearing unusually unhappy.

Later that night, Chaturong suddenly left the party, went to his car, and returned armed with a pistol. He then shot and killed his wife, her mother Kingthong Klajoho, her sister Kornnipa Manato, and a guest, Thong Nonkhunthod. Another guest, Bamrung Chatherat, was seriously injured.

Following the shootings, Chaturong turned the gun on himself, resulting in his immediate death.

Bamrung, the injured individual, was taken to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for treatment. Police are actively investigating to determine the reason behind the tragic event.
