A veteran Burger King worker who hasn’t missed a day of work in over 27 years has gotten flooded with job offers from employers around the world.
Kevin Ford, 54, went viral after a Reddit user reposted a video of the worker opening a gift from the fast food chain’s management on June 20.
The clip, which was originally posted on the man’s Instagram account in May, shows Ford opening the present he received from HMSHost, the company Burger Kind hires from. The package had several items, including a reusable Starbucks cup, a bag of Reese’s candy, pens, and two rolls of Lifesavers.
The passionate worker also received a piece of chocolate cake from the managers of the Las Vegas Burger King where he works as a gift to celebrate the milestone.
Ford was very appreciative in the video, recorded to express his gratitude to the company. However, online users strongly criticized Burger King’s response to Ford’s milestone, saying that he deserved much more and that the gift reality did not match up with expectations.
Kevin’s daughter, Seryna, decided to honor her father’s dedication to his work through a GoFundMe.
“He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago,” she wrote, confirming that her father had worked for food service for 27 years and had never missed a day.
“Then as our family grew and he remarried, he continued to work here because of the amazing health insurance that was provided through this employer because it was unionized. Which got all four of his daughters through high school and college with full healthcare coverage,” she added.
Seryna said that the family was not asking for money, “but if anyone feels like blessing him he would love to visit his grandchildren.”
The GoFundMe target has shattered twice, raising over $200,000 in just one week, including a generous $5,000 donation from actor David Spade.
Ford also revealed that he has received many job offers. The man said he got one proposal from Charleston, South Carolina, to work at a beachside restaurant.
A car company also contacted him, but Kevin said it wasn’t his thing and turned down the offer.
