Chatri Sityodtong Donated 20 Million Baht to Muay Thai Gyms

ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong has donated 20 million baht to Muay Thai gyms in the southern and northeastern parts of Thailand.

Chatri personally donated 500,000 baht to each of the 40 training facilities within these regions, totaling 20 million baht. These areas are known for producing Muay Thai talent, despite facing financial difficulties.

“Last year, I traveled across the country to meet gym owners and athletes. I was deeply moved by their situation. They were earning very little, and everyone was struggling,” Chatri recounted.

“So, in the last two years, my team and I have aimed to assist fighters, gym owners, and small promoters nationwide, not just in the Bangkok area. ONE and I are investing across the country in Muay Thai because, if not us, then who?”

“This is crucial because Muay Thai is part of our heritage. It has a long history in our country, and it would be a tragedy if no one supported or invested in our gyms and fighters. We’re thinking long-term, not just about immediate gains.”

ONE has revolutionized Thailand’s Muay Thai scene by airing the weekly, highly-rated event, ONE Lumpinee, from Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on Thai television.

Chatri is now focused on developing the sport from the grassroots level, beyond just organizing premier events in Thailand.

“You can compete in ONE Lumpinee and potentially progress to ONE Championship. But we must first invest, as currently, almost every gym is operating at a loss,” he noted.

“Many gyms received a 500,000-baht donation, improved equipment, and better nutrition for fighters, enabling them to afford trainers. We’ve assisted them in various ways.”

The ONE roster now includes leading Thai fighters, each with a story of overcoming adversity.

Chatri is determined to uncover more stars who can gain international recognition by nurturing young talent, aiming for their global success and fame.

“The launch of ONE Lumpinee was inspirational for boxers and gyms nationwide because it offers a way out of poverty,” he explained.

“We have remarkable stories like those of Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Superlek Kiatmoo9, Tawanchai PK Saenchai, Stamp Fairtex, and Phetjeeja.”

“These are tales of world-class Thai heroes. I want ONE Lumpinee to be the platform that discovers the next superstar. It gives gyms a goal and fighters a purpose for success in their lives,” he concluded.
