Leo Messi will earn an enormous €110 million ($129 million) in wages over his three-year contract at Paris Saint-Germain, it has been revealed.
The Argentinian joined the French club this summer after Barcelona couldn’t keep him due to their financial troubles.
French media has leaked the details about Messi’s contract which will earn him as much as Neymar and more than Kylian Mbappe.
Messi will earn €30 million net this season and €40 million net per season over the following two years before his contract expires in 2024 when he will turn 37.
Messi didn’t receive any transfer bonus when he moved to PSG, though it’s reported he will receive a loyalty bonus of around €15 million per year.
Since completing his move to PSG, Messi has also linked up with cryptocurrency website Crypto.com, which will see him earn an additional sum of up to €30 million over the duration of his contract.
Part of Messi’s salary will be paid by cryptocurrency fan tokens, which allow holders to vote on minor decisions related to their clubs.
Messi’s signing completed a busy summer transfer window for the Parisians, who also landed former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum and Gianluigi Donnarumma on free transfers as well as Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes.
Still, Messi’s arrival was most hyped with around 150.000 shirts sold in the first day when they hit the stores.
Messi joined Barcelona as an 11-year-old kid and made his senior debut in 2004 at just 16 years old, playing in 778 games in 21 years spent in Barcelona.
He is the top scorer of the Catalan club with 672 goals including 120 Champions League goals and a record 474 LaLiga goals.
Messi made his first start for PSG in the Champions League match against Club Brugge but is still awaiting his first goal for the French side.
