Portuguese Joy: Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes EURO’s All-Time Top Scorer

Portugal started their Euro 2020 campaign in the best possible way with a 3-0 win over Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday.

Although the home side didn’t make things easy for them, Fernando Santos’ men got the job done in a dream match for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Juventus striker scored a brace to take his tally to an incredible 11 goals scored at the European Championships and, in doing so, surpass the record of France’s Michel Platini (who managed nine goals).

In the 84th minute, Rafa Silva sent in a poor cross and Raphael Guerreiro attempted a shot on goal that, fortunately for him, deflected off defender Orban before ending up in the back of the net.

A minute later, Orban committed a penalty on Rafa Silva, which ‘CR7’ converted for his team’s second goal of the match and his personal tenth goal in the competition.

At the 90+2 minute, Ronaldo created a great team move with Rafa Silva and then eluded goalkeeper Gulacsi to make it 3-0 and seal the final result.

With this victory, Portugal is at the top of Group F with 3 points and goal difference +3, with a slight advantage over France.

In the other match of the day, France beat Germany 1-0 away thanks to an unfortunate goal by Mats Hummels.
