Popular American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars is scheduled to make a triumphant return to Bangkok with a highly-anticipated concert taking place on Saturday, March 30, news of which set local social media alight when the announcement was made earlier this month.
Celebrated for “Uptown Funk” and “Billionaire”, Bruno recently confirmed that he will take to the stage at Rajamangala National Stadium for his “Bruno Mars Live in Bangkok” show. It will be six years since the native of Honolulu, Hawaii last came to the Thai capital when he performed a sold-out concert at IMPACT Arena, as part of his “24K Magic World Tour”.
Winner of fifteen Grammy Awards, the 38-year-old is one of the world’s best-selling artists achieving record sales in excess of 200 million globally. He has scored eight number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and his tours rank amongst the highest-grossing of all-time.
The superstar performer is renowned for his ability in blending a host of genres, including pop, R&B, funk, soul, disco, reggae, hip-hop, and rock. Mars has attained an extraordinary amount of success as a solo artist, as well as being one half of the group Silk Sonic along with Anderson .Paak – their 2021 debut track “Leave the Door Open” was a huge smash.
Some of his biggest solo hits to date include: “That’s What I Like”, “Grenade”, “Billiionare”, “24K Magic”, “Just the Way You Are”, “When I Was Your Man”, “Locked Out of Heaven”, “It Will Rain”, “Talking to the Moon”, “Marry You”, and a major fan favourite, “The Lazy Song”.
Bruno Mars made the move from Hawaii to LA in 2003 to pursue a full-time music career, initially working as a producer. He created songs for a number of prestigious artists, such as Flo Rida, Alexandra Burke, K’naan, and Travie McCoy, Gym Class Heroes’ lead singer.
McCoy gave Bruno his big break when featuring him on the massive 2010 hit “Billionaire”, putting the singer into the global spotlight. This would soon be followed by the release of his first album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans”, with “Just the Way You Are” being its lead single.
In 2014 Mars was featured on Mark Ronson’s song “Uptown Funk”, topping several charts around the world. His third studio album “24K Magic”, released in 2016, was a critical and commercial success, particularly its catchy title track which won Record of the Year at the 60th annual Grammy Awards in 2018 and reached number one in eight countries in total.
