Legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones is set to make his long-awaited return to Bangkok this year, with a hotly-anticipated show at UOB Live, EMSPHERE on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
Sir Tom Jones, who was awarded with an OBE in 1998 and knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 for his exceptional contributions to music, is celebrated as one of Britain’s all-time best vocal talents. During his 60-year career he has sold over 100 million records and had 36 different songs within the UK Top 40 charts, as well as 19 entries within the US Top 40.
Fans in Thailand have been bursting with excitement since news broke that the incredible “It’s Not Unusual” singer will be performing at the recently-opened venue in the center of the Thai capital, which will be Tom’s second visit to the Kingdom following his 2010 show.
Aside from Bangkok, the “Ages & Stages” Tour is also due to make stops in Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Singapore, Jakarta, and Hong Kong. The iconic crooner has a long list of hits, such as “She’s a Lady”, “Delilah”, “What’s New, Pussycat?”, and “Green, Green Grass of Home”.
Thomas Jones Woodward, born in 1940 in Pontypridd, South Wales, professionally known as Sir Tom Jones, is lauded for his deep baritone voice. He began singing at a young age, often performing at family gatherings, weddings, and as a participant in his school’s choir.
He signed to Decca Records in the early 1960s and gained recognition soon after with his breakthrough song “It’s Not Unusual”, which was a global hit. Sir Tom has since enjoyed a huge amount of success, dazzling audiences and captivating fans with his amazing voice.
The 83-year-old star serves as a coach on The Voice UK, a role that he has excelled in for many years. His tenure on the popular show has been marked by his excellent mentoring ability, allowing him to guide numerous young musicians towards achieving their dreams.
In addition to his tremendous music career, Sir Tom has also found success in acting, with his movie debut coming in 1979’s “Pleasure Cove”. A number of film and television shows were later added to his resume where he often played himself or fictionalised versions of himself, notably in 1996’s “Mars Attacks!” film, and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” TV show.
Fans can look forward to experiencing the full repertoire of Sir Tom’s music, including the 2021 masterpiece “Surrounded By Time”, an album that saw Tom secure the accolade of being the oldest male artist to top the number one spot on the UK Official Albums Chart.
