11th Edition of Bangkok Chef Charity Event Set for Saturday

The “Bangkok Chef Charity Fundraising Gala Luncheon” is returning for its 11th edition at the Royal Ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok this Saturday, following a four-year hiatus. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside at the event.

Organized by Jivanand, this event marks the first time it will feature renowned chefs from 11 Michelin-starred restaurants, leading hotels in Bangkok, Michelin-starred restaurants from The Peninsula Hong Kong, and three prominent culinary schools in Bangkok.

A lineup of 32 chefs will present an array of 16 canapé options and a lavish 10-course gourmet meal, accompanied by wine pairings, for an audience of 380 patrons.

Highlighting this year’s event is the introduction of Jan Ka Pak jasmine rice, a special ingredient featured in one of the canapés and the main beef course of the 10-course dinner.

This special variety of rice is cultivated using organic, natural, and chemical-free fertilizers in the provinces of Surin and Buri Ram, showcasing sustainable agricultural practices.

The event will also see the participation of aspiring young chefs from top international schools in Bangkok, working alongside celebrated chefs.

The unique Bangkok Chef Charity edition, celebrated for being the “height of glamour and an affair marked by dazzling attire and luxurious food”, was first launched in 2009.

It was a collaborative effort by executive chefs from prestigious Bangkok hotels who teamed up to create a gourmet banquet aimed at fundraising for the benefit of disadvantaged children in Thailand’s remote regions.

The 19th edition of the event, which was held in 2019, achieved a record-breaking fundraising amount of 44 million baht, the highest in its decade-long history.

Funds raised through ticket sales and generous contributions from attendees, including philanthropists from leading business and social sectors, were contributed to HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The proceeds supported charities under her royal patronage and were allocated to support schools in underprivileged areas of northern Thailand.

This year, tickets are priced at 15,000 baht each, with all proceeds directed towards supporting hospitals affiliated with the Debaratana Vejjanukula Foundation, under the auspices of the princess.
