Thailand’s “Very Festival 2023”: A Return of Indie Music Royalty

Indie music enthusiasts are set for another treat as this year draws to a close. The annual music celebration will be graced by the presence of several beloved indie musicians.

Two of these acts are no strangers to the Bangkok music scene, having wowed audiences last year. Their highly-anticipated return in late November forms part of a six-band lineup for the illustrious Very Festival.

The festival will commence with the soulful tunes of British indie pop sensation Prep, the unique sounds of K-pop indie pair 92914, and the smooth melodies of Korean-Canadian R&B composer Slchld.

The momentum will carry into the second day, with performances from indie rock band Bloc Party and Last Dinosaurs, topped off with an appearance by the talented American singer, Charlie Burg.

Both Prep and Last Dinosaurs are not new to the Bangkok audience, with Prep having performed there recently, while Last Dinosaurs took the stage at the rival event, Maho Rasop.

There are more surprises in store, as further lineup announcements are scheduled to come soon.

The Very Festival, a two-day event running from November 25-26, will be held at the renowned Queen Sirikit National Convention Center’s Ballroom Hall.

Fans can now secure their spots at the festival by purchasing tickets through Ticketmelon. A two-day pass goes for THB 4,800.

This music extravaganza, put together by Very Radio, is well known for its electrifying past editions.

In 2022, it was a three-day affair that took place at the Thunder Dome in Muang Thong Thani, featuring an impressive lineup including Franz Ferdinand, John K, Fiji Blue, Lauv, Keshi, Boy Pablo, Adoy, and Joan.

The festival made its debut in 2019 at the Show DC shopping mall, hosting indie performers such as The Marias, Nothing But Thieves, Sticky Fingers, FKJ, and Tahiti 80.

The recurring festival has set a precedent for showcasing eclectic indie talents and promises yet another unforgettable experience this year.
