Four Bars in Bangkok Ranked on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 51–100 List

At the third annual Asia’s 50 Best Bars awards held earlier today in Hong Kong, the list of bars ranked from 51 to 100 was revealed. Notably, four bars from Bangkok made it onto this prestigious list.

The popular “Liquid Surreality” from Opium, crafted by head bartender Matteo Cadeddu and Arnon Hoontrakul, secured the highest ranking for a Bangkok bar at 59th place.

This accolade comes after Opium’s success at the BAD Awards 2023, where it won both Bar of the Year and Best Design.

Next on the list following Opium was the established Chinatown cocktail hub, Asia Today, from the Teens of Thailand team, positioned at No.68.

Additionally, Find the Locker Room, a speakeasy staple with head bartender Thanachot “Ong” Lohanimit, ranked at No.78.

Securing a place at No.99, and acknowledged as the BAD Awards’ Best Hotel Bar, was The Loft located on the 56th floor of the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok.

Covering 22 cities across Asia, Singapore amassed the highest number of entries on the list with eight bars, followed by Hong Kong with five and both Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur with four each.

The top spot for this year’s Asia’s 50 Best Bar 51-100 list was clinched by Charles H in Seoul.

Last year, Bangkok also secured four spots on the list, featuring establishments such as Teens of Thailand and Smalls.

Five Bangkok bars – BKK Social Club, Tropic City, Vesper, Asia Today, and Bamboo Bar – earned positions in the top 50 list last year.

The final listing for Top Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2023 is set to be announced on July 18. Only two Bangkok bars, BKK Social Club and Tropic City, were included in the World’s 50 Best Bars the previous year.

The ranking process for the awards incorporates a 260-member academy consisting of bartenders, bar owners, writers, and cocktail enthusiasts, who cast their votes over an 18-month period.
