Starbucks Thailand Set To Open Over 300 New Outlets by 2030

Starbucks Thailand unveiled an ambitious plan to open 335 new outlets between 2023 and 2030, demonstrating its commitment to expansion.

The Managing Director of the company, Mrs Nednapa Srisamai, shared an exciting vision for Starbucks Thailand’s growth, with plans to expand their current 465 outlets to a remarkable 800 by 2030, and a projected total of 480 by the end of the current year.

Mrs Nednapa stated that this decision emphasizes Starbucks’ dedication to accelerate expansion in one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant markets, although specifics about the investment funds were not disclosed.

“We continue to invest in Thailand because we are confident in the country’s economy in the long term,” she conveyed.

“Thailand has been a strategic country for Starbucks in Southeast Asia for a long time and we are optimistic about the future of the coffee business here.”

Over the course of the eight-year strategic plan, the forthcoming Starbucks outlets will primarily follow the Reserve and drive-thru blueprints.

Mrs Nednapa explained how the enterprise has adapted to the hurdles brought on by Covid-19, opening an increased number of drive-thru locations, which will retain their key focus this year even as Covid cases diminish.

The current tally of Starbucks drive-thru outlets in Thailand is 56 and the company anticipates it to reach approximately 100 in the future, she noted.

The drive-thru format coincides with changing consumer habits and enhances accessibility, commented Mrs Nednapa.

Adhering to the sustainability wave, the company aspires to establish more Starbucks Greener outlets and cashless establishments.

On Thursday, Starbucks Thailand revealed an enhancement to its largest outlet — Starbucks Reserve Chao Phraya Riverfront at ICONSIAM — transforming it into a second Community store.

The corporate goal is to manage eight Starbucks Community outlets out of the 800 anticipated to open by 2030.

Mrs Nednapa revealed that the new Iconsiam Community store will have a profound effect on the local community through a profit-sharing business model, coinciding with Starbucks’ global pledge to establish 1,000 Community stores across the globe by 2030.

“The opening of Community stores speaks to our brand promise to move towards a more sustainable future, as we continue to focus on the well-being of our coffee farming communities in the northern part of Thailand,” she expressed.

“Starbucks Thailand is committed to delivering a sustainable future through the reduction of carbon emissions, wastewater and our waste footprint, starting with the introduction of Starbucks Greener stores in Thailand.”

Currently, there are three Starbucks Greener outlets within the country, with plans for more to open later this year, she declared.
