Campari, Italy’s iconic red apéritif, has recently opened Sunset Lounge at Red Sky rooftop restaurant and bar, situated on the 56th floor of Centara Grand at CentralWorld, Bangkok. Here, visitors have a stunning 360-degree view of the vibrant city, where they can marvel at the incredible sunset as they enjoy Italian-inspired, classic drinks with friends or family.
Mr. Robert Maurer-Loeffler, originally hailing from Holland, serves as the Vice President of Operations for Centara Grand’s Thailand properties and the General Manager of Centara Grand at CentralWorld. With over 20 years of experience in pre-opening and operational management, he brings knowledge of markets across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Globe sat down for an interview with Robert to discuss the superb Sunset Lounge venue, covering a range of topics such as the inspiration behind the bar’s design, its location, its atmosphere, and what it is that makes this newly-launched establishment just so special.
Centara Grand at CentralWorld is strategically-located right in the heart of Bangkok within the Ratchaprasong district. The luxury property has recently completed a renovation, and has placed a strong emphasis on the rooftop dining and entertainment options: there are three bars and two restaurants on the rooftop. Our Red Sky venue offers a fantastic array of authentic Mediterranean cuisine, drawing culinary influences from a number of nations in Europe that are of outstanding gastronomic renown, including France, Italy, and Spain.
Sunset Lounge at Red Sky has been inspired by Milan’s most famous aperitif bars. Guests always have a reason to visit the venue, and that is of course is to experience the tranquil sunsets. What better way is there to enjoy it than with Italy’s prestigious aperitif Campari? It is widely recognized for its refreshing qualities, and ability to stimulate the appetite. We are on top of one of Bangkok’s most iconic shopping malls CentralWorld, located right in the middle of the city. From this vantage point you can notice the Chao Phraya River on one side, and the airport on the other, providing a 360-degree panoramic view of the city. During the rainy season you can witness the rain approaching, usually from the river side, as it sweeps towards the urban landscape. In the past few years, Bangkok’s rapid growth has been clearly visible from here. You can look at the traffic, and bustling city life below.
