Taste Space’s 4th Wall: A Retro-Futuristic Tribute to 60s Cinema

Taste Space’s 4th Wall cocktail bar in Bangkok is a tribute to the golden age of 60s cinema, reimagining the future with inspiration from the past.

Located in the Luxx Lang Suan hotel, the newly opened bar serves classic cocktails that are authentic and traditional. Additionally, the menu changes daily, ensuring a unique experience each time.

The Thai firm decorates the bar with a mix of past and present influences, combining modern and postmodern styles for a unique retro-futuristic look.

The bar features a mix of organic and geometric elements inspired by 60s television, including curved glass, TV sets, poles, and the bar structure, adding a fresh twist to the era’s classic style.

Upon entering the bar, visitors walk through a colorful corridor, evoking the feel of an old movie theater and serving as a gateway through time.

At the end of the corridor, a central bar facilitates engaging interactions with mixologists, creating both a visual and social hub.

Taste Space incorporates a range of design influences from Bauhaus to postmodernism for the 4th Wall bar, crafting a distinctive space that blends retro and futuristic elements.

The design team uses a variety of materials, contrasting raw textures like concrete with bright orange and green tones, merging brutalist and postmodern vibes.

Retro TVs with high-gloss finishes line the corridor, reflecting the 60s’ prevalent plastic use and providing a visually stimulating journey through time.

The lighting, featuring acrylic and tinted glass, offers vibrant and soft illumination, while 60s-style chrome-coated bulbs add an authentic touch.

The 4th Wall cocktail bar can be found on the second floor of the Luxx Lang Suan hotel, located at 828 Soi Langsuan, Lumphini, Pathum Wan.
