Bangkok’s New Eatery El Santo Inspired by Mexican Wrestling

Soho Hospitality Group, renowned for creating popular and engaging food and beverage destinations such as Havana Social and Above Eleven, kicks off the year with a new venture.

They have unveiled El Santo, a lively Mexican restaurant and bar that celebrates the colourful world of lucha libre, the renowned Mexican wrestling culture.

El Santo is a dynamic venue offering guests an immersive outing experience with its vivid indoor seating space featuring a show kitchen, a tranquil outdoor dining area, and a locker room-inspired bar.

Chef Daniel Calderón Camacho, with over a decade of culinary expertise, is at the helm, blending traditional and contemporary flavours in his dishes, and not shying away from bold, spicy tastes.

The restaurant is particularly proud of its taco and quesadilla fillings, exemplified by the quesa-birra – tortillas filled with tender short ribs cooked slowly, cheese, cumin, chocolate, and Mexican consomme.

The highlight of Chef Daniel’s menu is the grilled dishes, especially the smoky mole sea bass. This dish requires 6 hours of preparation, featuring a blend of six types of chilies and Mexican spiced chocolate.

For dessert, the classic churros de canela and tres leches with peaches offer a sweet respite.

The beverage selection at El Santo is impressive, boasting over 65 types of tequila and mezcal, one of the largest assortments in Thailand.

Signature cocktails like “Fight Me Like A Man” and “On the Ropes” combine tequila, mezcal, and tropical fruits.

El Santo is located at Novotel Living Bangkok Sukhumvit Legacy, on Sukhumvit Soi 29, and is open daily from 6pm until 2am. You can contact them at 062-601-4564.
