Hybrid Restaurant and Wine Bar, a unique Thai-Italian fusion eatery, opened its doors this April in the bustling Mahatun Plaza of Ploenchit, introducing a new blend of culinary favourites with a gourmet twist.
The creative force behind this innovative venture is Chef Yodying “Sasha” Phoomcharoen, a graduate of the prestigious Rome Chef Academy.
Having lived in Italy for nearly a decade, Chef Phoomcharoen brings a refined approach to Thai cuisine, supplemented by a curated selection of small-production wines.
The restaurant’s eclectic menu currently features three tasting experiences, with the standout being the nine-course Travel Diaries Degustation Menu which is priced at THB 4,120, with an additional THB 2,190 for wine pairing.
Guests will be welcomed with the first dish, “Garden of Flavor”, a blue crab creation harmoniously paired with jalapeno, tom kha, coriander pearls, and crystal ice plant.
The menu further surprises with a reinterpretation of the classic tom yum soup in the form of River Prawn Hybrid, served with a bisque espuma, a bouquet of tom yum flavours, pancetta mushroom, and lime.
The Duck confit dish, a deliciously savoury delight featuring red curry, pineapple, star anise, macadamia, and kumquat, is another exquisite fusion worth a try.
Mahatun Plaza, a short distance from the Ploenchit BTS, has long been a hub for Bangkok food enthusiasts, with popular destinations like Santiaga.
The addition of the wine bar by Hybrid Restaurant and Wine Bar adds a touch of upscale charm to the area’s vibrant nightlife, further enhancing the foodie appeal with its advanced offerings.
You can find Hybrid Restaurant and Wine Bar at Mahatun Plaza Room 876, 878 Phloen Chit Road. They welcome guests from Tuesday to Saturday, 6 pm through to 10:30 pm, while the wine bar opens earlier from 5 pm until midnight.
