So Cal: New California-Inspired Eatery Opens in InterContinental

The Intercontinental Bangkok unveiled its doors amidst grand celebrations last week, introducing the novel California-style eatery known as So Cal – abbreviated for Southern California. You might wonder, what exactly does California cuisine entail?

In this context, it mirrors the diverse cultural influence present in Southern California, emphasizing a blend of European and Mediterranean tastes, led by the culinary professional Chef Dominic Hong.

Their distinctively crafted specialty meals notably feature a lusciously prepared lobster tostada, artfully garnished with spicy serrano chili and tangy yuzu dressing.

Additionally, they offer a sumptuously grilled octopus served alongside flavourful potato bravas and fermented jalapeno aioli, delectable pork belly tacos, and a scrumptiously 48-hour slow-cooked lamb neck prepared with meticulous care and precision.

Among the spotlight beverages is the Lavender Sgroppino—a delightful concoction skillfully blending vodka, refreshing lemon sorbet, Prosecco, and aromatic lavender essence bubble to create a unique taste experience.

Moreover, there’s the Citrus and Bubbles, a distinct cocktail which cleverly merges the flavours of pink gin and bergamot liqueur with the tang of pink grapefruit, calming chamomile cordial, and sparkling prosecco, for an exquisite and balanced libation.

These extravagant beverages, with their distinctive blends and inviting presentations, contribute significantly to a vibrant, upscale atmosphere that captures the ideal essence of a luxurious, leisurely Sunday Funday experience.

Nestled on the ground level of the Intercontinental Bangkok Sukhumvit, it is conveniently located just off the Chidlom BTS, right in the heart of the bustling downtown area, between Central World and Central Chidlom.

Guests can look forward to a spacious open kitchen, bar, and enormous floor to ceiling windows offering a glimpse into the bustling life under the BTS. If you desire some ambient sounds, an outdoor dining section is available.

After undergoing an immense renovation, The Intercontinental Bangkok Sukhumvit has once again welcomed guests for the first time since May 2022.

Other features that might appeal to foodies include round-the-clock dining at Espresso, the Fireplace Grill and Bar, Balcony Lounge, Summer Palace, and Butter.

Meanwhile, Humidor takes pride in one of the city’s most extensive selections of whiskeys and cigars.
