Savour Authentic Mediterranean Cuisine at Trattoria 22 Eatery

For those who are fans of creamy hummus, crispy falafel, and delicate, paper-thin pastries, make your way to the recently established Mediterranean eatery located within the Eastin Grand Phayathai Hotel.

Positioned on the hotel’s 22nd floor, Trattoria 22 provides breathtaking views of the metropolis through expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and connects directly to the hotel’s swimming pool.

While doubts about hotel dining options may arise, rest assured that the cuisines here are genuinely impressive, comforting, and generous in portion size.

Consider trying the mezze board for THB 650. It comes with a selection of three distinct dips: “avocado hummus,” a playful reimagining of the traditional recipe garnished with fresh pomegranate; a smoky aubergine baba ganoush; and tzatziki (cucumber yogurt).

The mezze board is accompanied by falafel fritters, tabouleh, olives, and pita bread—an ideal dish for communal eating.

Additionally, the Moroccan-inspired lamb shank tagine which is priced at THB 890 was a hit.

Although initially disappointed that it didn’t arrive in a traditional earthenware serving dish, the meat was slow-cooked to perfection with a blend of ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, and saffron, creating tender, fall-off-the-bone morsels that pair excellently with saffron rice.

Vegetarians will enjoy the Mediterranean flatbread for a price of THB 490, generously topped with a selection of eggplant, tomato, zucchini, olives, artichoke, and crumbled feta cheese—an animal-friendly version of pizza that doesn’t skimp on flavour.

This locale is also ideal for those who crave something sweet but don’t want to risk a sugar-induced guilt trip.

Choose between the delightfully sweet and nutty filo pastry baklava, filled with pistachios and cinnamon, then crowned with a scoop of ice cream and wild honey, or the cheese pastry knafeh for just THB 350.

This tantalizing delight comes with a syrup-soaked shredded phyllo dough kataifi on top, reminiscent of “foi thong.”

The restaurant, located on the 22nd floor of Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai at 18 Phayathai Rd, opens daily from noon until 11 pm.
