Visit the World of Studio Ghibli’s Animation Exhibition in Bangkok

Studio Ghibli, the prestigious Japanese animation film company, is now hosting its biggest exhibition ever in Southeast Asia at Bangkok’s CentralWorld Live. The long-awaited event, “The World of Studio Ghibli’s Animation Exhibition Bangkok 2023” got underway on July 1 and will be captivating large crowds of fans in the Thai capital until the end of September.

Enthusiasts of the marvellous Studio Ghibli’s works are in for a treat as CentralWorld Live’s 8th floor has undergone a complete transformation, with the magical setting placing focus on ten works including “Spirited Away” and “My Neighbor Totoro” from the creative icons.

These outstanding masterpieces are recognized for their immersive narratives, unique art styles and thought-provoking thematic depth. In addition to the cinematic feast, the event also offers interesting activities, providing a fun and interactive experience for all visitors.

Established in 1985 by the masterful directors Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki in Tokyo, Japan, Studio Ghibli has enjoyed both critical and commercial success, becoming popular for its unique hand-drawn animated characters and fantastical stories. Five of the studio’s productions are amongst Japan’s top ten highest-grossing Anime feature films of all time.

After the incredible success of a large exhibition in Taipei, Taiwan, Studio Ghibli is now set to impress international fans once again in Thailand. With a number of fascinating exhibits on display, attendees will be absolutely amazed by the enchanting world of Studio Ghibli.

Spanning across 3,000 square meters on the 8th floor of CentralWorld Live, the exhibition hall mesmerizes visitors with a masterfully-curated selection of Studio Ghibli’s most iconic and well-renowned creations, showcasing more than three decades of their superb work.

Discover eye-catching exhibits from ten of the studio’s most cherished films, each offering interactive elements, and the opportunity to capture memorable picture moments. One of the top exhibits to see is Nausicaä’s airplane from the acclaimed fantasy “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind”, which is bound to appeal to visitors who love journeys of exploration.

Other installations include the floating castle “Laputa” from the 1986 hit film “Castle in the Sky”, the famous bus stop and Totoro’s Tree from “My Neighbor Totoro​”, a soaring bicycle and Kiki’s bakery from “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, and a serene beach from “Porco Rosso”.

Those in attendance may also wish to step into Tanuki’s house from “Pom Poko”, get lost in the magical forest from “Princess Mononoke”, mingle with Kaonashi and the spirit train from “Spirited Away”, and marvel at Howl’s amazing home from “Howl’s Moving Castle”.

CentralWorld’s front space is graced by the beautiful figure of Ponyo, joined by her friends from “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea”. There are also activities to enjoy such as the Spirited Away Easter Egg: Durian Hunt, and the fun Howl’s Moving Castle’s Easter Egg: Dog Hunt.
