The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand or GIT, is collaborating with Chanthaburi province, Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Traders Association, Chanthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, Chanthaburi Municipality, The Federation of Thai Industries of Chanthaburi province, and the Chanthaburi Provincial Chamber of Commerce.
This partnership also includes various agencies in Chanthaburi province and alliance networks. They recently hosted a press conference to announce their readiness for the International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2023.
This event is scheduled to occur from December 7 to 11, 2023, and will be held in multiple locations including the Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Centre, KP Jewelry Centre, and the Gems Market on SriChan Road.
The main goal of the festival is to establish Chanthaburi province as a leading global center for gem and jewelry production and trade. The festival is expected to draw over 10,000 attendees and generate more than 100 million baht for the local economy.
Mr. Monsit Paisanthanawat, the Governor of Chanthaburi Province, mentioned that the organization of the International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2023 aligns with the government’s key policy.
This policy, endorsed by the Cabinet, supports the development of Chanthaburi as a global gem and jewelry trade hub. The initiative is part of Thailand’s broader strategy to become the World’s Gems & Jewelry Hub.
The festival’s venues are strategically located within a 1-kilometer radius of Chanthaburi City and include three primary locations: The Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Center, the KP Jewelry Center, and the Gems Market on SriChan Road. This event is expected to create significant economic opportunities for local residents.
Mr. Sumed Prasongpongchai, Director of GIT, mentioned, “The International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2023 is now in its fourth edition. It has received positive feedback from government and business partners and is considered one of the most significant gems and jewelry festivals, alongside the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair.”
“Visitors can explore a diverse range of gems, jewelry, and related products from Thai and international entrepreneurs. The festival will also feature seminars to enhance the capabilities of gem and jewelry business operators, focusing on online marketing strategies.”
He continued, “Additionally, experts in the gems and jewelry industry will conduct various workshops. Highlights include the Business Matching session and a Mobile Lab, offering gems and jewelry testing and certification services under the ‘Buy With Confidence’ program.”
“The festival will also host an exhibition of gems and jewelry awarded the GIT’s World Jewelry Design Awards 2023, with a special focus on the ‘Gems Treasure’ exhibition featuring the ‘Charming Southern’ collection.”
“There will also be exhibition of jewelry from Chanthaburi entrepreneurs specifically designed to be displayed at this event which will help inspire gem lovers who want to enter the gem and jewelry industry,” Mr. Sumed added.
Ms. Kanokporn Damrongkul, Director of the Exhibition Department at the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), said, “Chanthaburi province holds immense potential for cultural tourism and local communities.”
“Organising this festival aligns with TCEB’s mission to promote MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) activities in the country, stimulating economic growth. The five-day festival is expected to attract at least 10,000 participants, with a trading value of at least 100 million baht within the event.”
“Moreover, Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Traders Association has arranged ‘Gems Tour’ for those interested in the gem-making process, from mining to product sales, including a visit to important tourist attraction in Chanthaburi, such as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and visit the lifestyle of the Chanthaboon riverside community.”
Mr. Phuket Khunaprapakorn, Advisor to the Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Traders Association concluded. “In addition, we also received cooperation from hotels in Chanthaburi with special promotions during the events. This not only stimulates the trading of gems and jewelry but also helps stimulate the economy and tourism.”
