Marriott and Asset World Corp (AWC) have joined forces to open a Ritz-Carlton hotel on the banks of Bangkok’s majestic Chao Phraya River within four years.
Under this new alliance, both companies are set to open The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, The Riverside, in phases in 2026. The new hotel will be located on three separate sites along Thailand’s major river.
Marriott International has described the deal with AWC as an opportunity to create a unique destination for urban explorers, meeting planners, and wellness seekers in the historic section along the “River of Kings.”
According to Jakob Helgen, the company’s Area Vice President in Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Cambodia, the project combines the spirit of the past with the contemporary luxury hospitality that characterizes the Ritz-Carlton.
Additionally, Marriott takes pride in working with AWC to expand its presence in Thailand and open a new hotel in Bangkok, which the brand described as a dynamic city with rapid development.
The Ritz-Carlton, The Riverside’s main elements will focus on the carefully restored collection of warehouses, “The Lhong 1919 Riverside Heritage Destination,” located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River.
Design plans suggest that three reinvented low-rise structures are complemented by two new buildings, expected to offer 86 river-view rooms and suites.
The new hotel will also feature nine exclusive villas, plunge pools, a signature rooftop restaurant and other multiple dining destinations, a spa, a fitness center, and an outdoor infinity pool with a pool bar.
As the location that will house The Ritz-Carlton, The Riverside features lush courtyards and shady walkways, foliage and lush foliage, it is expected to have multiple spaces for events and lifestyle activities.
The new property will also include The Shophouse, which is expected to have at least 24 rooms, a wellness center, a riverside pool, and an intimate event space.
There will also be The Mansion, a space that will have 56 rooms, a restaurant by the water, an infinity pool, a gym, and a room for children.
The Shophouse and The Mansion are set to open in 2026, while The Lhong 1919 Riverside Destination could start receiving guests in 2027. To access all three sites, visitors will be able to use dedicated shuttle boats.
