IKEA Is Set To Open First “City-Center Store” on Sukhumvit

IKEA is set to open another store in the kingdom, and it will be known as IKEA Sukhumvit.

Although it is the brand’s fourth branch in Thailand, it will be the first urban store in Southeast Asia and the first IKEA store to arrive in the heart of Bangkok.

Strategically located near the Asoke-Sukhumvit intersection, the country’s first “city-center store” allows customers to reach its premises effortlessly via the capital’s well-connected SkyTrain line and public transportation system to find the affordable and well-designed furniture solutions they need.

IKEA Sukhumvit arrives to consolidate the first partnership between IKEA Thailand and The Mall Group.

The Swedish home furnishings brand has leased 12,000 square meters on the EmSphere shopping complex’s third floor under a 25-year contract, bringing in a new branch to strengthen The EM District, a world-class business and lifestyle destination.

IKEA brings back its urban store concept, first launched in 2017, packed with everyone’s favorites. Its Sukhumvit branch arrives with a Market Hall, Room Sets, and an IKEA Restaurant, where everyone can taste the best traditional Swedish delicacies and new selections on rotation with a breathtaking view of Benjasiri Park.

Customers can also enjoy the brand’s flagship services, such as Click & Collect, and IKEA’s most popular spot for taking photos, Self-service.

IKEA Sukhumvit will also offer unique and innovative concepts, hoping to become a fun destination for all Thais and visitors.

According to IKEA Thailand & Vietnam retail manager Leonie Hoskin, the new store will serve four million visitors living in the Sukhumvit area and elsewhere in Bangkok, who will have a more convenient reason to visit the brand’s spaces.

“We chose the Sukhumvit location because it comprises 300,000 households within just a 5-kilometer radius, and Sukhumvit is within walking distance from the BTS and MRT. This fantastic location will bring IKEA very close and more accessible to many people,” she said.

IKEA Sukhumvit will combine the brand’s signature Swedish style with Thai influence after more than a decade in the local market.

Ms. Sirin Atsilarat has been appointed as Store Manager of IKEA Sukhumvit after having been with IKEA for more than eight years as Sustainability Manager and Local Marketing and Communication Manager at IKEA Bangna, Store Manager at IKEA Phuket and Deputy Store Manager at IKEA Bang Yai.

The new store’s location in busy Sukhumvit also favors IKEA’s worldwide expansion, as it is an iconic neighborhood widely known not only to local customers but also to foreigners.

According to Ms. Sirin, the store will sell around 9,500 products and promises a complete shopping experience similar to the original IKEA stores.

IKEA Sukhumvit is set to welcome customers by the end of 2023, with 200 members ready to work hard to meet its current and new fans’ needs.
