Six Golf Resorts Are Now Available To Play During Quarantine

The Thai cabinet has approved a ‘golf quarantine’ proposal made by the Ministry of Tourism, allowing foreign golfers to stay in quarantine while playing golf at some of the six licensed golf resorts.

These are located in Nakhon Nayok, Kanchanaburi, Phetchaburi, and Chiang Mai.

From now on, people arriving in Thailand from a foreign country will have the opportunity to spend their two weeks of mandatory quarantine (between 14 and 16 days) in any of the resorts that the government has certified. They no longer have to be isolated in their hotel room, as they can play golf and move around the resort environment.

But all arrivals, including golfers, will still have to comply with all advance documentation for arrival and entry.

Some of the requirements are a visa (a single-entry tourist visa (TR) or a special tourist visa (STV), medical and travel insurance, certificate of entry, and other relevant documents according to regulations and travel restrictions imposed by the government of Thailand due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The six official authorized resorts are located in various regions of Thailand.

To the west of Bangkok, in Kanchanaburi, are the Mida Golf Club, the Evergreen Hills Golf Club, and the Blue Star Golf Course. In Nakhon Nayok, northeast of Bangkok, the Artitaya Golf & Resort is available.

Golfers staying in Phetchaburi can go to the Sawang Resort and Golf Club.

Likewise, arrivals who must complete their quarantine in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, will be able to visit and play a round of golf at the Artitaya Chiang Mai Golf & Resort.

The country’s tourism sector has been hard hit by travel restrictions stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a way to boost its growth again, the Ministry of Tourism initiated this proposal. Now, given the outbreak found in mid-December last year, the authorities must be more careful to avoid the spread of the novel coronavirus. Still, they must also strive to revive their economy.

This appears to be a promising strategy.

Golf courses in Thailand has earned a good reputation for being excellent value for money. Golf lovers can purchase special quarantine packages with discounted green fees and special services.
