Britney Spears Had an Abortion While Dating Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears recently revealed a deeply personal ordeal she had kept silent about for two decades.

In her soon-to-be-released memoir, ‘The Woman in Me,’ the pop icon discloses that she conceived a child with Justin Timberlake during their relationship but chose to terminate the pregnancy, a fact confirmed by PEOPLE Magazine.

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to start a family together one day. It was just much earlier than I’d anticipated,” Spears shares, now 41, reflecting on her pregnancy in the memoir.

“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready for a baby, that we were way too young,” she continues.

She recounts in her memoir, “Had the decision been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. Yet Justin was so certain he didn’t want to be a father.”

Detailing the emotional toll of the abortion, Spears conveys, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing experiences I’ve ever had.”

After her breakup with Justin Timberlake in 2002, Spears embraced motherhood, giving birth to two boys — Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17 — with her then-husband, Kevin Federline.

Spears is set to release her eagerly awaited memoir on October 24, under the Gallery Books imprint, a subsidiary of Simon & Schuster.

The memoir’s release comes nearly two years after Spears’ liberation from a 13-year-long, court-imposed conservatorship, which was dissolved in November 2021 following Spears’ impassioned public testimony in June of that year.

‘The Woman in Me’ promises to unveil, for the first time, the remarkable journey and resilience of one of pop music’s most iconic artists, as stated in a press release from Gallery Books.

The book “highlights the transformative power of music and love — and underscores the importance of a woman telling her story, on her own terms.”
