Britney Spears was spotted without her wedding ring just hours after her husband Sam Asghari filed for divorce.
After only a year together, the 29-year-old model decided to split with the renowned pop singer, 41, amidst startling “cheating claims.”
Earlier on Wednesday, it became public that they chose to part ways 14 months post their glamorous Los Angeles wedding.
Britney was recently seen without her wedding ring while out in her white Mercedes. She seemed serious while driving her car down the street.
Engrossed, Britney remained focused on the road in spite of her personal issues. She had her blonde hair styled straight, but what stood out the most was the absence of a ring on her wedding finger as she gripped the top of the steering wheel with her left hand.
The duo exchanged vows on June 9, 2022, just a year before this filing. The exact reason behind their forthcoming separation remains under wraps, though whispers suggest cheating might be a factor.
Sam mentioned “irreconcilable differences” as his motive for the split, as reported by TMZ. Furthermore, he documented their separation date as July 28, 2023.
Some allege Britney’s cheating on Sam, but she hasn’t publicly commented on such claims.
A source shared with ET Online earlier on Wednesday: “Britney and Sam have split. She’s adamant she didn’t cheat. The two haven’t got along for a while and it finally came to an end after a major blowup.”
Neither party has spoken openly about the split. Their last public appearance was during a visit to Cabo, Mexico, where they seemed distant.
The Louisiana native star returned to Instagram after briefly stepping back, sharing an intriguing update.
She uploaded a snapshot of herself horseback riding by the sea, captioning: “Considering a horse purchase!!! Overwhelmed by choices!!!”
“A horse called Sophie and another called Roar??? I can’t make up my mind!!!”
She added: “Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy had on??? Either way I think I found my sweet spot with Roar!!!”
Speculations have been rampant leading up to the split, with observant fans detecting “hints” online that suggested the iconic singer and her actor partner had ended things.
Though the paperwork has just been submitted, Britney and Sam’s divorce proceedings might turn contentious. TMZ conveyed that Sam seeks financial aid from Britney and wishes her to shoulder his legal costs.
Neal Hersh, his attorney, hinted that Sam might challenge the existing prenup. The document states Britney’s holdings remain her personal property, not as shared marital assets.
Yet, his recent legal submission says: “[Sam] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property and assets and obligations of each party.”
It further notes: “There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time.”
The actor reportedly aims for a hefty settlement from the celebrated artist, as per Page Six.
A source indicated that Sam is “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”
The same source remarked, “So that’s what Sam is focused on.” According to Variety, Britney has engaged the services of high-profile attorney Laura Wasser.
