Chrissy Teigen: Miscarriage in 2020 Was Actually an Abortion

Chrissy Teigen has revealed that her baby loss two years ago was not a miscarriage but an abortion.

In 2020, the TV personality announced that she had lost her baby at 20 weeks due to complications during her pregnancy. She shared a lengthy message about her anguish and emotional pain alongside photos of her in a hospital bed.

At the time, Teigen described the loss as a miscarriage. However, the model of Thai descent recently revealed that she had had to make “difficult and heartbreaking” decisions after learning that her baby would not survive.

“It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention,” she said.

Speaking at a conference session about the recent US Supreme Court decision to overturn the Roe v Wade ruling, allowing each state’s authorities to block access to abortion, Teigen explained that she had recently come to accept the procedure as “an abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance.”

The model said she had discussed the ruling with her husband, singer John Legend, expressing sympathy for the people who had to decide to have an abortion.

At that moment, Legend made her realize she had been one of those people, she recalled.

“I fell silent, feeling weird that I hadn’t made sense of it that way. I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage,” she expressed during the A Day of Unreasonable Conversation summit.

Teigen also said she had become frustrated because she didn’t say what it was in the first place and felt “silly” because it had taken more than a year for her to understand that she had actually had an abortion.

“Let’s just call it what it was. It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago,” she told the session.

After losing their baby, whom the couple had named Jack, Teigen wrote an emotional blog explaining that she had been induced to give birth to her unborn child after she was diagnosed with partial placental abruption.
