Dakota Johnson and her boyfriend Chris Martin are basking in the sunshine on a vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The 34-year-old Madame Web star and 46-year-old Martin were spotted enjoying a day at the beach this Monday.
The couple was captured in photographs hand in hand, entering the water, just days after the theater release of Johnson’s Spider-Man-related superhero movie on Valentine’s Day.
Johnson and the frontman of Coldplay started their romance in 2017, following Martin’s notable separation from his former spouse Gwyneth Paltrow in 2014, which officially ended in divorce by 2016.
Their debut in the public eye as a couple occurred during the Stella McCartney Autumn 2018 Collection showcase in January 2018.
As their relationship has matured over the years, they continue to keep details of their personal life private, often enjoying their time together in their Malibu, California, residence.
Johnson has worked creatively with Martin and Coldplay, directing the music video for their 2020 track “Cry Cry Cry,” and they frequently spend time with Martin’s former spouse, Paltrow, and her husband, Brad Falchuk.
Paltrow expressed her fondness for Johnson on Instagram, stating during a Q&A in October 2023, “We’re actually very good friends. I love her so much. She’s an adorable, wonderful person.”
The vacation to Mexico for Johnson and Martin follows the success of Madame Web, in which Johnson plays a New York City paramedic bestowed with the power of foresight.
The film opened to a $25.8 million gross last Wednesday, securing $15.1 million over the weekend in the U.S. and an additional $25.7 million overseas.
In a recent MagicFM interview, Johnson revealed she has not watched Madame Web, explaining her general practice of avoiding her own films.
She described this choice as a form of self-preservation, saying in the TikTok-shared interview, “It helps me avoid an existential crisis. Avoiding my own movies is a form of self-care for me.”
Following Madame Web, Johnson doesn’t have any new film projects lined up. Martin, on the other hand, is set for a busy summer touring with Coldplay, starting with performances in Athens, Greece, this June.
