Joe Jonas has secured a divorce attorney following four years of marriage to Sophie Turner, a source told TMZ, adding that the couple has experienced “serious problems” over the past few months.
Jonas, 34, and Turner, 27, walked down the aisle twice, first in Las Vegas and later in France. They are the proud parents of two little girls: three-year-old Willa, and her 14-month-old sister.
The Game of Thrones star and the Jonas Brothers band member initially got in touch through Instagram direct messages in 2016.
“We had a lot of mutual friends, and they’d been trying to introduce us for a long time,” Turner recounted in an exclusive interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, noting, “We were following each other on Instagram and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue.”
Shortly after establishing a connection on Instagram, Jonas asked Turner to spend time together while he was touring in the U.K. Turner’s friends believed it would be “hilarious” and persuaded her to say yes.
The pair planned to meet up at a bar and, to ensure Jonas wasn’t impersonating someone else, Turner brought along her “rugby boys” for protection.
Although anticipating Jonas to “show up with security,” she found it heartwarming when the artist came with just a friend.
Back in 2017, Jonas proposed to Turner, seeking her agreement to a lifelong partnership. They both took to Instagram to announce the happy news, each sharing a photo that featured Turner’s hand adorned with her new engagement ring.
Jonas opted for a simple yet joyous caption, stating, “She said yes,” a sentiment echoed by Turner who happily penned, “I said yes.”
The duo garnered a wave of well-wishes from their well-known peers and relatives, inclusive of Jonas’ sibling, Nick Jonas, who expressed, “Ahh! Congratulations to my brother… and sister in law to be on your engagement. I love you both so much.”
Jonas and Turner officially became spouses in an unexpected event in Las Vegas, followed by a grand celebration in the French countryside.
In 2020, the pair welcomed their first child, a daughter named Willa, followed by the arrival of a second child in July 2022.
“It’s been amazing to be a dad and to learn every day more about myself and what that’s like,” Jonas shared with the media last year, reflecting on his experiences of fatherhood.
Recently, Turner commemorated her singer spouse on his 34th anniversary with an adorable photo of them in identical nightwear.
Within the image posted on her Instagram Story, the duo was pictured dressed in matching green-and-white striped sleepwear, mirroring in the glass, as Turner captured a self-portrait.
The performer adorned herself with twisted twin tails and a subtle makeup application, while Jonas seemed to style his hair smoothly pulled back, observing her mobile. Above the image, Turner inscribed, “Happy birthday handsome.”
Earlier this year, Turner showed her support for Jonas by being present at a ceremony where the Jonas Brothers were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Each sibling was offered a chance to address the audience — and Jonas took a moment to extend a personal accolade to his spouse during his speech.
“Sophie, what up homie. You’re my partner in crime. You keep me motivated and inspired every day. I strive to be as cool as you,” he stated. “You got any plans after this?”
The pair’s two daughters were absent from the occasion, but Jonas ensured to acknowledge them as well. “To my little ones at home, Daddy loves you to the moon and back,” he said.
