Johnny Depp has surprised his fans with an unexpected appearance at a rock concert in London just days before the verdict in the libel trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard comes.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor joined British guitarist Jeff Beck for the second time on Monday during a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The day before, the pair were seen playing Sheffield.
Depp and Beck performed Isolation, a John Lennon song they collaborated on two years ago.
According to concertgoers and journalist reports, the public had a mixed reaction when Depp appeared. Many fans said that they had no idea that the star would show up at the event but expressed happiness over his performance.
However, other attendees complained about paying to see Beck live but ending up seeing Johnny Depp, describing the moment as “disappointing.”
The Hollywood star was reportedly set to perform again alongside his friend Beck at the London venue yesterday.
Depp’s appearance with his friend made international headlines on Monday, a day before jury deliberations resumed in the high-profile trial involving Heard.
The verdict was expected to be read by Penney Azcarate, Circuit Court Judge in Fairfax County, Virginia, yesterday. But the jurors, who must reach a unanimous decision for a verdict, went home around 5:00 p.m.
The jury will continue deliberations on Wednesday, almost a week after both sides presented their closing arguments.
The 58-year-old actor has filed a $50 million lawsuit against his ex-wife over a Wahington Post op-ed she authored describing herself as a victim of physical, emotional, psychological and sexual abuse.
But Heard, 36, counter-sued for $100 million, arguing that Depp’s former lawyer had defamed her.
On Friday, as the legal teams from both sides presented their closing arguments and the jury began deliberations, Depp’s lawyer asked the jury to hold Heard accountable for her “lies” and her “wild, over the top and implausible” allegations of abuse.
However, the Aquaman actress denied the accusations against her, saying that her ex-husband is an abuser who cannot be trusted.
