Kylie Kelce Reflects on Husband Jason’s NFL Career, Retirement

Kylie Kelce is well aware that her husband, Jason Kelce, is good with words! In an exclusive interview with NBC’s Philadelphia News 10 on Tuesday, the 31-year-old mother of three opened up about her husband’s recent decision to retire from football.

She described his retirement announcement as the “perfect summary” of his 13 seasons as a center for the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I think I was the only one who had heard the speech before he delivered it,” Kylie shared about her 36-year-old husband. “It was just a perfect encapsulation of 13 years. He had an incredible run as a player in the NFL.”

She mentioned that Jason had been contemplating retirement for some time before making it official at a press conference on Monday.

“I’ve heard multiple versions over the last four years. This one was completely different,” she revealed.

“I think every year he essentially started from scratch regarding what was foremost in his mind. But when he said that he had been contemplating retirement for years, he meant it.”

During the press conference, Jason also recounted the first time he saw Kylie, expressing his gratitude to the league for bringing them together at an Eagles Christmas party.

“I still remember the moment she walked through the door. That first sight is seared into my memory. It was as if she glided through the entrance,” he stated during the press conference. “Then she started talking, and I thought, ‘Man, is this what love feels like?'”

Kylie finds his recounting of the story amusing, remembering that he appeared quite “intoxicated” that night. Yet, she acknowledged his words as “very, very sweet.”

In his farewell speech, Jason also expressed gratitude towards his wife for their family.

“She has given me three beautiful girls and a life that brings me more fulfillment off the field than on,” he said tearfully.

Since their marriage in 2018, the couple has welcomed daughters Wyatt, 4; Elliotte, 23 months; and Bennett, 12 months.

Reflecting on the reaction to his retirement, Kylie noted that the “love and support were expected because I know who my husband is, the way he has conducted himself, and how that has touched the lives of people.”

Following the announcement on Monday, many, including the First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden, praised Jason for his dedication, with Dr. Biden congratulating him on a “legendary career.”

Before retiring, Jason had the chance to play against his brother, Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, in the Super Bowl on February 12, 2023. The Chiefs emerged victorious with a score of 38-35.
