Lisa Breaks Another Guinness World Record With Hit ‘Money’

Lisa, whether as a solo artist or with her girl group BLACKPINK, has a reputation for smashing records.

The rapper has recently secured another accomplishment to her impressive list, earning a Guinness World Record for her hit track “Money,” which has achieved 1 billion streams on Spotify, confirmed by the organization on Wednesday, September 27.

Guinness conveyed that “Money” accorded Lisa the accolade of the first K-pop track by a soloist to attain 1 billion streams on Spotify.

This song, the second one from her 2021 solo EP Lalisa, had approximately 1,002,683,408 streams as of September 21. Additionally, this single secured a spot on the Billboard Hot 100, landing at No. 90.

With this latest Guinness World Record, Lisa now boasts a total of four solo recognitions from the organization.

Earlier in the year, the rapper, known for her hit “Lalisa,” secured solo accolades by emerging as the first individual K-pop artist to win at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2022.

Additionally, she broke new ground by becoming the first solo K-pop artist to win at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards, receiving two nominations in the category, one of which included a joint nomination with BLACKPINK.

Lisa’s third record in 2023 was attributed to her expansive social media presence – she has the highest number of followers for a K-pop artist on Instagram, totaling 86.3 million Blinks at that time, who ardently await her updates on the platform.

This number has since surged to 97.3 million followers on Instagram as of January.

Along with BLACKPINK, Lisa also shares world record titles for possessing the most subscribers for a band on YouTube (April 22, 2021), and being the most streamed female group on Spotify (March 3, 2023).

They also were the first K-pop group to secure the No. 1 spot on the Official U.K. Albums chart (female) (Sept. 29, 2022) and the Billboard 200 (female) (Oct. 1, 2022), both with their album, Born Pink.
