Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

Authorities in the Dominican Republic have detained American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, who is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday to face domestic violence charges.

27-year-old Daniel Hernández, known professionally as rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, is currently in custody in a Santo Domingo jail, following his Wednesday arrest, as reported by officials.

No additional details are available, and the status of Hernández’s legal representation remains unknown.

A judge on Thursday is set to decide whether Hernández will remain in jail or be released on bond while the investigation continues.

This arrest is the latest in Hernández’s history of legal encounters.

In October, Hernández was arrested at a coastal hotel in the Dominican Republic, accused of assaulting a local music producer.

Hernández and his partner, Dominican rapper Yailín la Más Viral, were working in the producer’s studio at the time.

In the United States, Hernández was accused of using a violent gang as his personal enforcement group but avoided jail time by testifying against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, a gang active on the U.S. East Coast.

A judge previously considered him a potential threat to public safety and detained him without bail during his racketeering and firearms offenses trial.

In March 2023, Hernández was attacked by several individuals at a LA Fitness gym in Palm Beach County, Florida.

A video circulating on various social media platforms shows Tekashi 6ix9ine on the gym bathroom floor, being kicked and having his hair pulled by at least two assailants.

In 2018, he received a four-year probation sentence after admitting to a 2015 incident involving a minor in a sexual act.

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s 2018 multiplatinum track “Fefe,” featuring Nicki Minaj, achieved significant success, reaching number 3 on the pop music charts.
