Shakira is now dating British actor Lucien Laviscount, known for his role in “Emily In Paris,” a relationship that ignited during their collaboration on her new music video.
However, her latest romance is raising eyebrows among her friends, concerned that Laviscount’s motives might be more fame-driven than genuine.
The chemistry between them was undeniable in the music video for Shakira’s track “Punteria,” where a shirtless Laviscount tenderly touches the face of the Colombian artist, fueling rumours about their off-screen romance.
Sources close to the couple have now verified their relationship, but described it as not “too serious.” This news has somewhat alleviated the worries of Shakira’s friends, who are wary of Laviscount possibly hurting the 47-year-old singer.
“Shakira is desperate to fall in love – but her friends are concerned because Lucien has slowly crept his way up the celebrity ladder while dating women who were all less famous than Shakira,” a source revealed.
“The women he has been with are all very different. Now he is seeing Shakira and she wants love.”
“But her friends fear he just wants people to know his name, and she provides that. They are seeing each other but are not heavily involved yet.”
The source claimed that Shakira has not fully moved on from her ex, Gerard Piqué, labeling her current relationship as a rebound. “She is dating someone who they fear is a player, and she is going to get burned,” they added.
Shakira and Gerard share two sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9. She met the British actor Lucien Laviscount on the set of her music video, where he starred as her romantic lead in February.
In the music video, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer is seen in his embrace, and in another scene, Lucien, shirtless and only in a loin cloth for modesty, is stretched out across her lap as she tenderly cleans blood from his chest after shooting him with an arrow.
Shortly after the release of the video, they were seen dining together at the Italian eatery Carbone in New York City, suggesting a blossoming off-screen connection.
Before sparking rumours with the Colombian superstar, Lucien had been linked to Kerry Katona, the former Atomic Kitten singer.
Their encounter happened in 2011 on the reality show Celebrity Big Brother when Lucien was 19 and Kerry was 31. Their affectionate behaviour on the show led to speculation about their relationship, which continued after the show ended.
Addressing the speculation, Kerry told OK! magazine that while Lucien charmed her during their time in the Celebrity Big Brother house and they enjoyed their moments together, he was never officially her boyfriend.
In another high-profile link, Lucien was seen sharing a kiss with Jesy Nelson, the Little Mix singer, in a rickshaw in London in November 2021.
After reaching a settlement with Spanish authorities to avoid imprisonment for tax evasion last year, Shakira, who had been with her former partner Gerard for over a decade, parted ways with him in the summer of 2022 following rumors he was unfaithful.
After their split, Gerard moved on with Clara Chia Marti, who is 26 years old.
