Sophie Turner Sues Joe Jonas for Return of Kids to England

British actress Sophie Turner has filed a lawsuit against her former partner, musician Joe Jonas, seeking the return of their two children to their “habitual residence” in England.

Earlier this month, the high-profile couple announced their divorce after over four years of marriage. The separation was described as “amicable” at the time.

However, last Thursday, Turner’s attorneys submitted a legal complaint alleging “wrongful detention” of their children in New York.

Joe Jonas, a 34-year-old member of the Jonas Brothers, is pursuing shared custody of their two daughters, Willa, born in 2020, and another child born last year, whose name remains undisclosed.

According to the legal complaint, Turner asserts that they established England as their “permanent home” in April. The documents allege that Jonas inaccurately declared in his divorce filing that the bi-national children had resided in Florida for the six months preceding his submission.

The agreement between Turner and Jonas permitted the children to visit the U.S. in August, coinciding with their father’s tour, described as a “temporary arrangement” in the complaint.

The legal documents further reveal that during a recent conversation about their separation, Turner reaffirmed the “mutual agreement” for the children’s return to England.

However, Jonas is reportedly withholding their passports, preventing their return to the UK. It is reported that Turner is currently in New York with the children.

Responding to the allegations, a spokesperson for Jonas told CNN that the interaction between the pair on Sunday was “cordial.” The representative conveyed a mutual understanding to establish a harmonious co-parenting arrangement.

“The children, born in the U.S., have spent the majority of their lives there. They are American citizens,” the representative stated.

Jonas also hopes Turner will “reconsider her stringent legal stance and proceed in a more constructive and private manner,” emphasizing his primary concern is the well-being of the children.

He also disputes the claims in the legal documents suggesting that Turner learned of the divorce through media, asserting she had prior knowledge.

Turner, known for her role as Sansa Stark in “Game of Thrones,” has also appeared in “The Staircase” and the “X-Men” film series.

Recent photos of Turner dining with pop icon Taylor Swift, Jonas’s ex from 2008, have gone viral.

Joe Jonas is known for hits like “Just In Love” and “This is Me,” a duet with Demi Lovato. His most notable works are with his brothers, Nick and Kevin, as the Jonas Brothers, known for hits like “SOS,” “Burnin’ Up,” “Sucker,” and “Waffle House.”

Their latest release, “Year 3000,” is a collaboration with the British band Busted, who originally released the song in 2002.
