Victoria Beckham is reportedly “heartbroken” after a rift with her daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz reportedly affected her relationship with her son Brooklyn.
A source close to the family told the media that the former Spice Girl was “distraught” as she has barely seen Brooklyn since he married in April and fears the tensions will damage her close relationship with her eldest son.
Victoria and Brooklyn seemed to be inseparable, especially when her husband, former soccer star David Beckham, traveled to other countries for work. However, the fashion designer’s acquaintances say she is deeply saddened that her firstborn did not join the family on a luxury yacht trip to Europe.
“Victoria is used to Brooklyn being there for these family events, it was sad for her that he was missing,” a source said.
According to UK media, tensions between the Beckhams and the Peltzes arose after Nicola didn’t wear a wedding dress designed by Victoria to their $3-million wedding ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida.
A source revealed that Nicola never intended to wear a wedding dress designed by her mother-in-law.
However, the actress reportedly claimed that she “really wanted” to wear Posh Spice’s gown, but the former singer reportedly canceled the plan at “the last minute,” saying her atelier couldn’t make it.
Earlier, Nicola addressed the accusations and said that turning down the offer on the dress was not intended as a slight against Victoria.
The 48-year-old former Spice Girl has also been accused of hijacking the newlyweds’ first dance song in a “mother and son moment.”
On the wedding day, the couple reportedly chose the song “You Sang To Me” by Marc Anthony, who sang live during the ceremony, for their first dance, but the singer allegedly changed his mind at Victoria’s request and sang the song for her and her son.
A source close to the Peltz family said Nicola was upset about the song-stealing, as she reportedly wanted to experience the special moment with her husband.
Informers also said David and Victoria had refused to pay Brooklyn’s US green card and his father-in-law, billionaire Nelson Peltz, has footed the bill.
